Farm to Altar
Bridging communities, one farm day at a time. Farm to Altar is a heartwarming community program conceived, designed, and led by Sam, Griffin, and Harper Hawley — three siblings who share a passion for farming, community, and connection. Together, they work with other teenagers to share the beauty of the farm and the importance of stepping away from screens to reconnect with nature, animals, and one another.
Each visit invites church groups of all faiths to experience the rhythm and wonder of rural life — feeding animals, harvesting seasonal produce, and soaking in the peace of the countryside. The program is not religion-centric but focuses on teen programs in churches as a conduit to urban communities.
Guests share a fresh, homegrown meal and learn about sustainable agriculture, food origins, and the joy of mindful living. Creative farm activities like potato-stamp art, nature scavenger hunts, and our beloved hay-bale obstacle course spark laughter, curiosity, and teamwork among visitors of all ages.
At its core, Farm to Altar is about connection — uniting rural and urban communities through shared experiences, reflection, and a little bit of farm fun.
What does a Farm day entail?
A Farm to Altar day is filled with learning, laughter, and connection — a chance to slow down, get your hands dirty, and rediscover the joy of nature.
Learn
Experience the rhythm of a real working farm. Visitors explore how food grows — from planting seeds to harvesting fresh produce straight from the soil. Through hands-on lessons in sustainability and healthy eating, kids and adults alike gain a lasting appreciation for where their food comes from. Every moment is designed to make learning engaging, memorable, and fun.
Play
Laughter fills the fields as guests join in creative outdoor activities like apple picking, making nature bracelets, potato printing, and tackling our farm scavenger hunt. These playful moments spark curiosity, teamwork, and imagination — reminding everyone that learning can be joyful.
Connect
From feeding chickens and brushing donkeys to wandering the garden paths, visitors form meaningful connections with animals, nature, and one another. The day ends with a shared sense of peace and belonging — a reminder that life is richer when we slow down and connect with the world around us.
